Its raining ! and it might flood

Heard on the BBC this morning- concerned looking reporter- I am here in South Wales and the rain that has been falling on high ground is now gathering in the streams and river levels are rising.If you are worried phone floodline

Is the population now so insulated from the vagaries of the weather that rising river levels when it is raining is now reported as news. OK, so you phone Floodline, and what are they going to do, stop it raining for you ?

As the water pours in through your living room window, ask to what productive use your tax money has been put to, funding flood defences, ensuring drains and run offs are kept clear ? funding a volunteer Civil Defence as in Germany. No largely it will have been pissed up the wall- £200Bn donated to the Banks with the 'Special Liquidity Scheme', Donations to the Olympic Games (ie clean up of one of the most polluted pieces of industrial ground in Europe) fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq to no tangible benefit to the Defence of these shores, and scores of intiatives to aid minorities etc etc etc and funding a Police Force that no longer even pretends to fight crime,( just give us more helicopters and speed cameras)
Public Money is just wasted, if a District Councillor acted in this way they would be personally surcharged, such legistlation does not apply to Ministers of State.
